What the @*#&% Were They Thinking?

History is littered with deals or agreements (AOL + Time Warner, eBay + Skype, John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander[who?], Kobe Bryant for Vlade Divac …) where one side clearly came out on top, while the other, thinking at the time it was a great deal, ends up regretting it.

This week there looks to be another one to add to the list, one that I just can’t ignore.

‘The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.’

About a month or so ago I came across this error message in SQL Server 2000 whenever I tried to test out YetAnotherForum (YAF) on my machine. 10+ FREE Blogging Editors

So a few weeks ago, I decided to jump on the blogging bandwagon, and signup for a WordPress account. I must admit, I was impressed by how simple it was to install on a server (literally 5 minutes, like they said), configure, upload and select a theme and install plug-ins.

There was one thing that bothered me and I couldn’t ignore no matter how hard I tried … their editor.

For those of you who have never used WordPress, or have never looked under the covers of your posts, WordPress likes to auto format your code. It will strip out some of your tags, wrap everything in <p></p> and rearrange your JavaScript code. And the only way to disable this "feature", is to disable the WYSIWYG editor (I later did find some other editors that can be used in WordPress) which leaves you with just the HTML view.

Normally, I would have no problem with this, as you will see in my reviews below, that I want the ability to go in and manually edit the source. Using their HTML view however, is worse than using pico as a HTML editor.

I searched far and wide across the Internets for FREE alternative editors, and came up with 11 Editors, 7 of which I have tested and wrote about.

So without wasting any more of your time, here is my list of 10+ FREE Blogging Editors.

Happy Programmer’s Day

Well apparently, because today is the 1111 1111th day of the year, it’s unofficially "Programmer’s Day". This day only comes around once a year, so here’s your excuse to turn off your monitors and leave your parent’s basement to go out into the real world for a bit and celebrate.
